Eisenberg's Egg Creams

Not usually one to gush about a sandwich shop, I have to say that Eisenberg's is worth the devotion. I love retro and Eisenbergs looks like something out of the 40’s or 50’s. Not the cheesy, mass produced, plastic faux 50’s, but like time has stood still for this little luncheonette on 22nd and 5th Ave. Of course all of the standard New York deli fare is here and I whole heartedly recommend the meatloaf, even to people who don’t think that they like meatloaf. But the real star for me has to be the egg cream. Almost extinct, this concoction of seltzer, U-bet chocolate syrup, and milk was a favorite of our parents and their parents as well. Sort of like a chocolate milkshake with a fizzy kick, this is a not to be missed treat.
